Setanta have more than doubled the initial payment for the tv rights to the SPL

Can only be a good thing for the league but does anyone know how the money is split? Also what's your views of Setanta? I actually think it's excellent although I really hope Scott Booth get's punted.

Its all just figures im afraid, It will not make one jot of difference to Kilmarnock im afraid. Will it lead to better signings? i dont think so!! I will just go to the pub to watch the games i want to

Well if divided equally it would mean £2.6m per season for each club which sounds good to me...I doubt that's the case though, the Old Firm will no doubt get the lions share. Even then it's still a good deal is it, it's more than double the last deal.

Personally I think Setantas pish, I don't like the coverage, the commentators, the shitey news channel, nothing really. Pants compared to Sky and the BBC but where else can I watch Scottish football?

125 mill until 2013/14 sounds good until you look elsewhere,

Setanta have just paid 392mill until 2009/10 for premiership.

Now I'm not stating the SPL is better than the premiership but old firm matches with regard to people wanting to watch compete with anything the Premiership have.

Still Setanta bailed us out when Sky ditched us but I still think they have a very cheap deal, when the likes of newcomers to the Premiership Stoke and Hull will get in the region of 50 mill I believe.

Well it is a good bit better than the 45 mil for three years that sky offered back when we ditched them. I hope the clubs don't go spending it all on useless foreign imports again, like last time. Ditching sky and the few slender years there might be the best thing that happened to scottish football, as we have started producing some decent players and the wee diddy teams like Hibs might not have to sell any half decent player they get now.

It's probably about right for a country of 5 million people. The TV money down here is obscene-but the Prem is sold as a product worldwide so you can't blame the clubs for taking it.

Long term -I fear for anyone outside of the top 2 leagues in England. As business models-football clubs are doomed if they continue to pay out more than 50% of their turnover in salaries. It is not rocket science but basic economics.

The Old Firm need to try and negotiate their own TV deals to try and get some parity with the Premiership teams.

Its only right the Old Firm take the lions share if it wasn't for them Setanta wouldn't be interested.

Great news but Setanta should invest in better broadcasting technology.

i suppose it is an improvement but when you look at say the championship in England there is still a big difference and i will go along with lammy maybe it should be shared out more fairly instead of the old firm grabbing the biggest share
